Is that with "load station environment = off" or "on" ?
That's very little RAM... and the card itself is not too great either. Have you tried running in the lowest possible resolution (1024x768 or whatever is available to you in fullscreen) with ALL options to the absolute minimum possible (lowest everything, all effects disabled, eve-voice off, sound off, etc) ? If that somehow works, start enabling stuff bit by bit and see what happens. _

3 gigs of RAM isn't great and neither is that g-card.
TBH, unless you've got a really sexed-up deck, EVE doesn't run that well on laptops.

Edit: 3 GB of RAM can handle at least 2 clients at once.

Memory is enough, processor is enough, video card is NOT enough. The Intel 965 is crap. On my laptop (with the same card) it works at low FPS, the fan kicks in to try to cool it, then it overheats.

I've killed 2 laptop video cards on a high-end gaming laptop. Cooked them both.
I was cleaning the fans and heatsinks about every 2 weeks, as at max speed for hours on-end they really need it. Cleaning the fans and heatsinks meant almost complete disassembly of the laptop, which is probably beyond the abilities of many people.
I've moved to a desktop with ample ventilation (no room air-conditioning) and haven't had any problems since. A weekly external dusting and a monthly internal dusting with blasts of compressed gas keeps it going strong.

I'm using an Asus G53J(core i-7, Nvidia 460m) right now. Not ZOMG super amazing, but tears up most games at reasonable settings. One thing I have noticed though, is the cooling scheme is AMAZING. Mind you, if you set a styrofoam cup next to the fan outlets while it's running hard, that sucker will be a puddle in 20 minutes, but the laptop itself barely gets warm.

Not to derail, but that doesn't say anything about the cooling scheme. Your graphics card is hotter than the exhaust air, that's just how thermodynamics works. The laptop is good at insulating that heat from reaching the case, but that doesn't mean that your graphics card won't eventually melt. I mean, the case of my desktop is very cool to the touch. Doesn't prove that the spot cooling on my graphics is adequate. Same principles.

I have a laptop with a very similar spec (not my primary machine), and I'm lucky if I get more than 1fps while I'm sat in a POS with everything sat at absolute minimum. Can just about change skills but no actual gaming is possible.
Sounds like it's time for you to get a better rig...

Eve is running perfectly fine at medium settings on my dualcore 1.6ghz 2gb ram, but I have an ATI2400. Sadly Intel GMA chipsets still uterly sucks for games.

Posting to confirm this. I can dual-box level 4 missions on my 3 GB RAM laptop. It takes a second or two to alt+tab between clients, but at no point am I concerned about ship losses because of computer performance.

I have your almost same Laptop.... furthermore i also hold your salvation :).
Your problem is this. Video card Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
this is going to be scary to you, but take it from someone who has already done this. It's not hard, nor is it scary.
Go to the Intel website and download THEIR drivers (do NOT detour to your manufacturers drivers which it will tell you to do.)
This next step scared the bejesus out of me... Delete your chipset drivers from the Control panel, the only thing that happens is your screen now defaults to how us old folks saw computer resolution 20 years ago (bigger and easier to see LOL).
Reinstall the drivers you downloaded from INTEL (NOT your manufacturer!!!!)
Restart and enjoy your game.

Edited by: Reeper 2435 on 29/04/2011 14:11:41 That is precisely what i had to do in order to get mine to work. It will take a couple restarts as the INTEL software configs.
I run a Toshiba Satellite series laptop, and the above procedure is exactly what i had to do to make it work. Your computer will have no adverse affects, your graphics still work they just won't be super sharp as you see them now, basically the pixel sizes increase.
Should you freak out, you can always redownload your manufacturers drivers and be back at square 1. There is nothing to fear.
Prior to doing downloading and inastalling the Intel drivers my game would go to a black screen of death every time i undocked. Even if i managed to get into warp i ended the same way with a locked screen of death.
I was also getting an error of something like "IGFX error causing the application to close" or soemthing like that.

The INTEL drivers for your 965 chipset. Not the maker of your laptop.

try starting here. It took me about 3 trys hunting and pecking to get the info i needed. I'm at work so can't do alot atm.

you should know that CCP in the rush of getting Incarcerated out decided to fix some of the bugs long after it came out, some of those bugs result in the graphics card working harder than it should. there have been MANY incidents of people's computers and graphics cards melting/breaking as a result of CCP's history of decisions to push the product out in a broken state Signature removed, please no ASCII art. I barely manage to run EVE Incarna on a notebook with
i5 (Quad) 1.2GHz 4GB RAM ATI HD 4500
Usually when I run EVE my notebook gets hot.
When I run the Captain's Quarters on mid level details (enough so it remains aesthetically pleasing) for too long it starts to smell like burned plastic.
So I just run CQ then and now, for screenshots mainly, and I will not try walking in stations with this machine...

I had similar problems with my new Asus A53u laptop. It would load eve just fine but would crash when i went into space. Someone told me to turn off eve voice and strangely.......that did it for me. Works fine now. A little bit slow but it runs.
